Alma Rotary speaker

<p>Randy Smith (center), with Alma Rotary President Ed Thicksten (left) and member Vicky Putman, was the recent guest speaker at the noon meeting of the Alma Rotary Club. Smith, who is a preservation advocate for historical cemeteries, spoke on the Van Buren Fairview Cemetery which he worked to get placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. He lobbied for AETN to film a segment of the documentary Silent Storytellers at Fairview in 2008 and co-produces the cemetery fundraiser Tales of the Crypt. Smith is the 2008 recipient of Excellence in Preservation Advocacy from the Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas.</p>
