They say when life gives you lemons make lemonade. My personal preference is to take the lemon and squeeze the juice into the lemon givers eyes, but that’s not always the best resolve, so I guess making lemonade it is! With baby and wedding showers, graduation parties, and wedding season right around the corner this is the perfect lemonade for any occasion! If it’s a college graduation, you can also add a little kick!

Vintage lemonade

5 lemons

1 1/4 cup white sugar

1 1/4 cup water

Peel the rinds from the lemons and cut into 1/2 inch slices and set aside. Place rinds in a bowl and sprinkle sugar over them, allowing the sugar to absorb the oils from the rinds. Let set for one hour. Bring water to a boil in covered saucepan and then pour hot water over the sugared lemon rinds. Allow this mixture to cool for 20 minutes and then remove rinds. Squeeze the lemons into another bowl. Pour the juice through the strainer into the sugar mixture. Stir well, pour into a pitcher and refrigerate. For a sweet strawberry lemonade simply add strawberry syrup and garnish with strawberries. For a tasty cherry lemonade, add some grenadine and top off with maraschino cherries. For a mind-altering lemonade, simply add a touch or a bottle of your favorite vodka!

Bottoms up, summer is coming!
