Butcher’s block

The shelves are stocked with crayons, pencils, paper, and every imaginable type of Hello Kitty, Ninja Turtle, Barbie, and Batman folder possible. The sighs of teachers can be heard around the globe, and children are savoring those last summer nights. All of this must mean its back to school time. It’s probably not often that one reminisces of their high school lunchroom but with all the back to school propaganda I began thinking about these delicious dessert bars from high school! I haven’t had them since, which is a little longer than I would like to admit, until I scoured the Internet and found this recipe! So whip up a sweet little treat for those kiddos to enjoy before heading back to class and wishing all a great school year!

Peanut Butter Bars

1 cup butter, melted

2 cups confectioners sugar

2 cups graham cracker crumbs

1 cup peanut butter

1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

4 tablespoons peanut butter

In medium bowl mix together butter, confectioners sugar, graham cracker crumbs, and 1 cup of peanut butter until well blended. Press evenly into ungreased 9x13 pan. In a metal bowl melt chocolate chips with remaining peanut butter in microwave stirring frequently until smooth. Spread over prepared crust and refrigerate at least one hour before cutting into squares.
