Sam L. and Mary Lue Casey of Van Buren observed their 70th wedding anniversary on Oct. 26. They were married Oct. 26, 1943, by an Army chaplain at the Army Air Base in New Orleans. Mrs. Casey is a homemaker. Mr. Casey retired from newspaper production and served in the Air Force during World War II. They have two children, David Casey of Portland, Ore., and Glenda Schwartz of Toledo, Ohio; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Frank and Lavona Kendrick of Van Buren will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Nov. 17 at Madame’s Main Attraction, 701 Main St. in Van Buren. They were married Nov. 15, 1953, in Van Buren at the home of the late Rev. Brown. Mrs. Kendrick, the former Lavona Crawford of Van Buren, is a homemaker and owner of The Emporium in Van Buren. Mr. Kendrick, a native of Russellville, is a self-employed contract painter. They have three children, Donnie Kendrick, Roger Kendrick and Melinda Landers, all of Van Buren; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.
Kurz - Bules
Berni and Marilyn Kurz and Chuck and Susan Bules, all of Van Buren, announce the engagement of their children, Natalie Kurz and Justin Bules, both of Philadelphia. A 4:30 p.m. ceremony is planned Nov. 16 at the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista. Ms. Kurz is the granddaughter of Albert and Beta Kurz of Lonoke. She is a graduate of Van Buren High School and received a bachelor’s degree in human environmental sciences from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She is a registered dietitian nutritionist. Mr. Bules is the grandson of Margene Bules of Van Buren and the late Gus Bules and Clara McFarland of Van Buren and the late Jim McFarland. He is a graduate of Van Buren High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the U of A. He is a category analyst for Colgate-Palmolive.
