Cato in Alma will host a back-to-school fashion show for girls Saturday from 1-4 p.m.
Cato, located at 415 W. Cherry St., in Alma, is hosting a fashion show for school-age girls featuring this season’s back-to-school fashion styles.
Two age categories will model the clothing at two different times during the day, said store manager Barbra Ware. Girls 5-12 will model from 1-2 p.m., and girls 13-18 will model from 3-4 p.m.
Clothes being modeled will be size 7 and up, and plus sizes, Ware said. Ware will be announcing what the girls are wearing as they work the store, she said.
Cato in Alma is the only area store that puts on such a fashion show, Ware said.
“It’s a really big event here in Alma,” Ware said. “This is the only Cato that does it.”
This is the second fashion show held by the store; the first was a spring-summer show held in May and a fall-winter show will be held later in the year, Ware said. The other two shows include misses and adult plus sizes, and Ware plans to continue the shows annually, she said.
Ware is still looking for models to participate in the show, though at least 40 girls already have signed up for each category, she said.
“Some of these girls will never have a chance to do something like this,” Ware said. “We’re just trying to do this for the community.”
Ware also said she hopes the show will bring more sales to the store.
To participate, girls must contact a member of management before Friday to register. Once registered, participants can visit the store to pick out the clothes they would like to model, Ware said.
Participants who show up early for the show can have their makeup done by one of four Avon consultants, Ware said. Door prizes will also be given out during the show.
