Alma man pleads not guilty to multiple drug charges

An Alma man facing numerous drug charges pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Crawford County Circuit Court.

Rocky Dale Dukes, 41, is charged with possession of marijuana with purpose to deliver, possession of Valium with purpose to deliver, possession of Xanax with purpose to deliver, four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and habitual offender.

Dukes was arrested Nov. 7 when a sheriff’s deputy went to Dukes’ residence to serve a felony warrant and assist parole officers with a search.

During the search, officers found a tube in the freezer containing four bags of marijuana, individual baggies of Xanax and Valium, scales and other drug paraphernalia, according to an arrest report. Also found was a bag of marijuana on a coffee table and another on Dukes, the report states.

The public defender’s office entered the not guilty plea for Dukes and waived formal arraignment before Judge Gary R. Cottrell.

Dukes also resisted a petition to revoke a previous sentence, alleging he has failed to pay restitution.

Other pleas heard Wednesday by Cottrell were:

• Dennis Lee Sikma, 40, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to theft by receiving. Sikma is accused of pawning musical instruments taken from a residence in the 1400 block of North 11th Street in Van Buren in October.

• Channelle Deshae Thompson, 24, of Fort Smith pleaded not guilty to theft of property - credit or debit card and habitual offender. Thompson allegedly stole a wallet Aug. 31 which contained a credit card.

• Brandy Lynn Waggoner, 38, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to financial identity fraud and habitual offender. Waggoner allegedly used her mother’s social security number to open an account with OG&E. She also resisted a petition to revoke a sentence she received Jan. 11, 2011, for forgery and theft of property based on the new arrest.

• Preston Lee Dubina, 36, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to failure to register as a sex offender. Dubina was arrested by Van Buren police, alleging he was not staying at his Timber Oaks Lane residence.

• Beryl Ray Bandsma, 36, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to non-support, alleging he owes more than $25,000 in child-support payments.

• Tammy Lynn Eliff, 49, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to fourth offense driving while intoxicated. Eliff was arrested July 27 by a Van Buren police officer who stopped a vehicle for no license tag light.

• Rodney Dale Pritchett, 47, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to domestic aggravated assault and first-degree terroristic threatening. Pritchett allegedly choked and threatened his wife with a knife.

• Derrick Grant Collins, 20, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at a Nov. 12 mandatory hearing on charges of residential burglary, theft of property, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Brandon Nicholas Schoening, 28, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at an Aug. 28 petition to revoke hearing.

• Cecil Wayne Alverson, 42, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at a July 24 petition to revoke hearing.

• Ethan Duke Jones, 21, of Fort Smith resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Sept. 30, 2013, for breaking or entering, alleging he failed to do community service.

• Christopher Dalton Shockley, 23, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received March 13 for residential burglary and theft of property, alleging he has been arrested for a new offense.

• Dusty Allen Brewer, 27, of Mountainburg resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Nov. 20, 2012, for fourth-degree sexual assault, alleging he failed to pay fines and violated probation.

• Christopher Lee Hill, 29, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Jan. 9, 2009, for fourth-degree sexual assault, alleging he was arrested Oct. 19 for failure to register as a sex offender and endangering the welfare of a minor.

• Amber Lynn Gray, 26, of Fort Smith resisted a petition to revoke a sentence she received Aug. 13,2012, for possession of an instrument of crime, alleging she failed to pay fines and court costs.

• Leesa Machelle Bowden, 33, of Fort Smith resisted a petition to revoke a sentence she received Jan. 28, 2011, for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, alleging she violated terms of probation.

• Shevonda Latiece Harris, 34, of Fort Smith resisted a petition to revoke a sentence she received July 19, 2006, for forgery, alleging she was arrested March 28 for theft of property.

• Kimberly Jane Cooper, 29, of Fort Smith resisted a petition to revoke a sentence she received Nov. 12, 2002, for forgery, residential burglary and theft of property, alleging she was arrested Aug. 8 for robbery in Sebastian County.
