Van Buren police have arrested a man accused of burglarizing a Dollar General store.
On Oct. 26 and Oct 29, a suspect broke out the front window of the Dollar General at 4217 Kibler Road.
In both burglaries, the suspect walked up to the front door, broke the glass door with a hammer and stole cigarettes, candy and other items from the store, according to a news release from Van Buren police detective Jonathan Wear.
The suspect was caught on video both times. Store employees saw a man come into the store during regular business hours wearing the same clothing as the man in the video and called the police, Wear’s release states.
Investigators identified Cody Dale Kirby, 26, as a suspect, the release states. Police went to the Kirby’s home and found the clothing worn during the burglaries and some of the stolen items, the release states.
Kirby was arrested on suspicion of two counts of commercial burglary. Commercial burglary is a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
