An investigation is being conducted on the City of Cedarville and a possible misuse of city monies, said an officer with the Arkansas State Police.
There are allegations that city funds may have been mishandled, said Lt. Jason Aaron, an investigator with the Arkansas State Police.
Cedarville Mayor Glenanna O’Mara admitted the city is being investigated.
“I am assisting in any way that I can,” O’Mara said.
While Aaron would not name who was under investigation, O’Mara said the investigation was targeted.
“It’s not the whole city that’s being investigated,” O’Mara said.
O’Mara also indicated that the investigation was along the lines of a legislative audit, something all cities must submit to on occasion, but Aaron said documents and evidence had been seized several weeks ago under warrant.
“I don’t really have any facts to give you, that’s the real situation of the matter,” O’Mara said.
Aaron would not comment on how the ASP came to suspect wrongdoing by city officials. No charges have been filed so far, Aaron said.
