Crawford County Fair opens Saturday

Crawford County Fair will begin Saturday and will have music, activities and fun for the entire family Sept. 7-14.

Saturday will kick off the fair with a horse exposition beginning at 9 a.m. Events include miniature horse jumping, barrel racing and horsemanship. A pet show also will be held Saturday at 10 a.m.

Cavie and rabbit shows will be Monday at 5 p.m. The Home Economics and Horticulture Building will be open to the public from 1-8 p.m. to receive entries from individuals.

The fair gets into full swing Tuesday with the opening of the carnival at 4 p.m. Senior Bingo will be held Tuesday at the Mulberry Senior Center at 2 p.m. The Ms. Senior Pageant will be at 7:30 p.m. on the main stage directly after the Crawford County Youth Talent Show at 7 p.m.

Both the Home Economics and Horticulture Building will be closed for judging until 6 p.m. Tuesday, at which time the building will open to the public until 9 p.m. for viewing competition entries. After judging is complete, the Best of Show in each category will be on display at the front of the building.

Steer, beef, and hogs show at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11. Bluegrass band Crooked and Steep will perform on stage at 7 p.m.

Home economics, horticulture and commercial buildings will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and will be every day for the rest of the fair, except for Friday when they are open until 10 p.m.

Dairy cattle will show Thursday, Sept. 12, at 4 p.m. and goats at 5 p.m.; Thursday also is carnival armband night. The Little Miss Pageant is at 7 p.m. and the Junior Miss Pageant at 8 p.m.

Both the bottle calf show and Tiny Princess Pageant will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, with a costume contest for animals at 7 p.m. and the Princess Pageant at 8 p.m.

Fair events conclude Saturday, Sept. 14, starting with the Crawford County Fair Parade at 11 a.m. in downtown Mulberry. Saturday is another carnival arm band day, and the 4-H poultry chain sale is at 2 p.m.

The livestock section of the fair culminates with the barbecue for prospective auction buyers at 3 p.m., and the Junior Livestock Auction at 4 p.m.

Miss Teen Crawford County Pageant is at 6 p.m., and the fair ends with the Crawford County Queen Pageant at 8 p.m.
