FS man pleads not guilty to multiple charges

A Fort Smith man accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Crawford County Circuit Court.

Eric Wesley Johnson, 29, is charged with attempted rape, third-degree domestic battery, resisting arrest, first-degree criminal mischief and habitual offender.

Johnson is accused of attempting to rape his ex-girlfriend April 1 and scratched her arms while keeping her from leaving her residence before leaving in her pickup truck.

The public defender’s office entered the not guilty plea for Johnson and waived formal arraignment before Judge Gary R. Cottrell.

Other pleas heard Wednesday by Cottrell were:

• Oliver Dale Frazier, 34, of Mulberry pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree battery on a law enforcement officer, three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Frazier was arrested April 4 after he allegedly kicked sheriff’s deputies and threatened to kill them after being called to a physical disturbance on U.S. 71.

• Rocky Dale Dukes, 41, of Alma pleaded not guilty to delivery of methamphetamine and habitual offender. Dukes allegedly sold meth to a confidential informant for the drug task force Aug. 23, 2013.

• Barry Norman Schapp, 40, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to first-degree terroristic threatening. Schapp is accused of calling and texting a woman Nov. 17-23 threatening to kill her and her family.

• Kenneth Stanley Jones, 22, of Alma pleaded not guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia. Jones was arrested March 27 by a sheriff’s deputy checking a man who was walking across the Arkansas River bridge on Arkansas 59 South.

• Frank Aaron Minter, 50, of Oklahoma City pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of an accident involving injury or death, two counts of second-degree criminal mischief and spilling a load on highway. Minter allegedly did not stop on Interstate 40 when furniture he was hauling fell from the back of a pickup truck, causing two accidents, one involving injury.

• Joshua Andrew Myers, 23, of Alma pleaded not guilty to second-degree forgery. Myers is accused of presenting an altered prescription to the pharmacy at Walgreen’s.

• Taylor William Stokes, 20, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to theft of property and first-degree criminal mischief. Stokes was arrested in connection with the theft of a pickup truck in February.

• Bryan Kevin Anderson, 23, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to residential burglary, theft of property and third-degree battery. Anderson is accused of breaking into a home in the 1100 block of Northview Drive April 2. When the homeowner found Anderson asleep on the couch, he allegedly hit the homeowner.

• Aletha Ann Robertson, 19, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and third-degree domestic battery. Robertson allegedly hit a man in the face with a metal candle stick April 8.

• Brittany Michelle Davis, 24, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to theft of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Davis is accused of stealing her grandmother’s prescription medicine.

• Albert Gene Parrish, 36, of Fort Smith pleaded not guilty to second-degree forgery. Parrish allegedly forged checks on a US Bank account in Dec. 20-March 11.

• Matthew Wayne Jones, 24, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to nonsupport, alleging he owes more than $8,000 in child support.

• Timothy Scott Coleman, 38, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to second-degree domestic battery and habitual offender. Coleman is accused of attacking his girlfriend with a knife March 24.

• Mark David Drain, 24, of Stilwell pleaded not guilty to theft of property. Drain was arrested in connection with a Dec. 11 shoplifting at Walmart in Van Buren.

• Dwayne Allen Gates, 45, of Fort Smith pleaded not guilty to residential burglary, theft of property and first-degree criminal mischief. Gates is accused of breaking into a vacant house in the 2700 block of Park Avenue in December.

• Joseph Cowan, 34, and Miranda Blythe, 34, both of Alma, pleaded not guilty to four counts of breaking or entering, theft of property, residential burglary and second-degree forgery. Cowan and Blythe alleged broke into a home and three vehicle in January.

• Raymond Scott Harris, 32, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to residential burglary, theft of property, failure to appear and habitual offender. Harris is accused of breaking into a Jefferson Street apartment Feb. 14 and failing to appear for arraignment March 19.

• Ferny Lhowann Leonard, 24, of Fort Smith pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at a Dec. 4 status hearing on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver, leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage and habitual offender.

• Traveon Houtha Reese, 19, of College Park, Ga., pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at a Dec. 13 plea or trial request on charges of engaging in continuous criminal gang, organization or enterprise, attempted second-degree forgery and possession of marijuana.

• Loard Edward Phillips Jr., 31, of Spiro pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at an April 5, 2010, plea or trial request on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Desiree Rene Galindo, 30, of Little Rock pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at an Oct. 12, 2011, arraignment on a charge of second-degree forgery. She also resisted a petition to revoke a sentence she received Oct. 25, 1999, for second-degree forgery, alleging she has failed to pay restitution, fines and court costs.

• Deven Elizabeth Jones, 35, of Alma resisted a petition to revoke a sentence she received Oct. 25, 2013, for filing a false police report, alleging she failed to do community service.

• John Wayne Walters II, 36, of Stilwell resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Nov. 15, 2012, for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine, alleging he has failed to pay fines and court costs.

• Jerry Lewis Crain, 27, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received July 7, 2010, for residential burglary, theft of property and delivery of marijuana, alleging he has failed to pay restitution, fines and court costs and was arrested Dec. 3, 2013, in Sebastian County for refusal to submit to arrest, fleeing in a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and parole violation.

• Chadrick Lee Holsted, 27, of Rudy resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Jan. 30, 2009, for breaking or entering, attempted theft of property and criminal trespass and Feb. 3, 2012, for driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and criminal mischief, alleging he has failed to pay restitution, fines and court costs.

• Michael David Ballard, 32, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Dec. 29, 2009, for theft by deception, alleging he has failed to pay fines and court costs.

• Kevin Earl Bull, 42, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Feb. 4, 2011, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended, alleging he was arrested March 30 for possession of drug paraphernalia and habitual offender.

• Tammie Leigh Villarreal, 38, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence she received May 7, 2007, for theft by deception, alleging she has failed to pay restitution, fines and court costs.
