Members of the Alma Lions Club will host a golf tournament Saturday, May 25, to raise money for a soccer field at the Boys and Girls Club of Alma.
Held at Winn Mountain Golf Course on U.S. 71 between Alma and Mountainburg, the tournament will be a four-player scramble. The tournament is limited to the first 25 teams.
This is the first year for the golf tournament. Don Ellis with the Alma Lions Club said members chose the golf tournament because they are a good way to raise money.
Alma Lions Club members are hoping to raise enough money to help build a soccer field on the boys and girls club property for Little League Soccer players, Ellis said. The players currently practice on the field of a local church, he said.
Registration begins at 11:30, lunch sponsored by Arvest Bank is being served at noon and the shotgun start for the game is at 1 p.m.
Cost per team is $200, and will include a golf cart, lunch and a “goody bag,” Ellis said. Team members also receive a ticket for a raffle held at the end of the game, he said.
First place will win $400, while second and third place will receive prizes. Prizes also will be given out for longest drive and closest to the pin.
