Halloween on Main set Saturday night

Halloween trick-or-treaters will fill Main Street in historic downtown Van Buren Saturday night for the annual Halloween on Main Street.

Festivities sponsored by The Old Town Merchants Association will begin at 6 p.m.

“Games and events will last until 9 p.m.,” said Patricia Howard, TOTMA treasurer and Halloween on Main Street chairman. “Trick-or-treating will last until the candy is gone.”

Free events include a dance contest and a costume contest at the King Opera House.

“We are looking at a great turnout,” Howard said.

Buddy Kelly Jr. will host the fifth annual “I Can Dance Like Michael Jackson” contest.

Kelly said he will be playing scary movie soundtracks and Halloween songs as well as singing a few oldies and his original Halloween tune “The Wolfman Rides Again.”

Prizes will be awarded to the best boy and girl dancers. The contest will begin between 7:30 and 8 p.m.
