Leadership Crawford County’s 2013 Leadership Safari youth conference is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Alma Performing Arts Center, 1032 E. Main St.
About 150 of Crawford County’s future leaders will be involved in a day of conferences set up to teach them to be leaders in their various schools, according to Tonia Fry, coordinator for Leadership Safari.
Eighth grade students from Crawford County school districts will participate in the program, which has received national awards and recognition.
The day will begin with registration from 8 to 8:25 a.m. The welcome will be given at 8:30 a.m. by Fry.
Morning sessions will include personality traits by Clayton McGill, Jody Rhoads, Jason Parks and Carla Moore and problem solving by the Nicki Harding with the Crawford County Extension Office. Harding will be assisted by the Junior Leaders in Action.
Also during the morning sessions will be communication by Christi Nishmuta and Sonja Davis, goal setting by Kelton Inge and Jeff Lambert and leadership characteristics by Jamie Hammond and Levi Risley.
A primal feast lunch will be held from 12:15 to 12:55 p.m. at the Alma Airedale football field, followed by a hands-on leadership session titled “Survival Skills” by Cindy Williams from 1 to 2:15 p.m. on the performing arts center stage.
Williams also will be in charge of closing remarks.
