Van Buren police have arrested a man accused of posing as his ex-girlfriend on dating websites.

William Jack Gregory, 44, was arrested Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of cyber bullying, according to a news release from Van Buren detective Jonathan Wear.

Police took a report in reference to a man using his ex-girlfriend’s identity to set up an “Adult friend finder” account and set up dates posing as her, according to the release. The woman’s photos, address and phone number were used on the fake profile, and she was contacted at home and work by men responding to the profile.

Using Internet protocol addresses, investigators confirmed Gregory as a suspect, the release states.

Cyber bullying is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail.
