Crawford County Library System board members are on the search for a new library director.

Tara McCleod, who took over the position at the beginning of August 2012, will be leaving for a position in Norman, Okla., she said. Friday will be her last day.

“It will be a new adventure,” McCleod said.

McCleod began working with the CCLS in April 2000 as a part-time library assistant at the Van Buren Public Library after receiving her bachelor’s in English from Arkansas Tech University.

McCleod later began working with kids and in October 2010 she became the Crawford County Youth Services librarian. She resigned from youth services to take up the director position.

Advertisements for the soon-to-be open position have already been placed, McCleod said.

Board members are expected to appoint former director Eva White as the interim director at the board meeting tomorrow at the Alma Public Library at 4:30 p.m.

“Eva will act as interim until someone can be chosen,” McCleod said.

White was with Crawford County libraries 13 years before she retired last August. During that time she helped build several new facilities and tie the libraries together under the one system.
