Come October, Mulberry-Pleasant View School Board members will be appointing two members to the board.
Two positions for the board have been left open after the file deadline for school elections passed July 9 at noon.
Steve Murders chose not to re-file for his position on the board, said Jan Williams, business manager for the Mulberry-Pleasant View Bi-County School District. Richard Cagle, appointed to the board last year, missed the file deadline, she said.
Remaining board members will have to fill the two positions by appointing members at their October board meeting, Williams said.
Because no one is actively running for the open positions, board members passed a resolution during their July 18 meeting to hold only early and absentee voting at the Crawford County Courthouse.
Early voting is open at the courthouse from Sept. 10-16, excluding Saturday and Sunday, during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No poll site will be open for the district on the Sept. 17 school election day.
Also during the July board meeting, board members approved new hires and accepted resignations.
Francis Sawrie was hired as the junior high math and science teacher, Stanley Ellis as a high school secondary math teacher, and Denice Wilson as the Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) teacher.
Leah Lemley resigned from her position in library media, and Julie Wolfe resigned as music teacher.
Superintendent Dana Higdon was routinely appointed as ex-officio financial secretary.
Classes for the 2013-14 school year at Mulberry-Pleasant View begin Aug. 19. The next board meeting is scheduled for Aug. 1.
