Music festival set April 26

Van Buren Music Festival on Main Street will be from 3-10 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in downtown Van Buren.

The free, all-ages event will feature two stages and be a perfect opportunity for families and individuals to relax and appreciate some of the most popular local singers and musicians, said Wes Turner, president of the Old Town Merchants Association.

“This is our first shot at a music festival,” Turner said. “This is going to be an exciting thing for everyone and the Main Street stores will be open all day.”

The festival will include sets by Bill “Flash” Flashpoler, Mark Albertson & Wanda Watson, Brian Ramsey, Buddy Cantrell & Jason Meredith, Blues Boy Jag & The Juke Joint Zombies, Sunshine Vein, Grant Pierson, Oreo Blue and Laura Pierson, he said.

“We’re hoping to make this a community event, and we’re excited that the Shane Bailey Memorial Music Society will have young performers from noon to 3 p.m. in the park across from Sister’s Gourmet Bistro on Main Street,” Turner said.

Festival organizers will offer 500 seats during the event; all attendees can bring their own lawn chairs, he said.

“It’s great because the Van Buren A&P Commission have played a big part in this with us, and we’ve had great support from people like Melody Harshbarger and Richard and Helen Hodo,” Turner said. “This will be a fun time for everyone.”
