A fire broke out early Tuesday morning at Bekaert Corp. in Van Buren.
The fire started around 1 a.m. after a flue, which releases heat created by the machines, caught fire, according to Crawford County authorities.
Stanley Clark with the Van Buren Fire Department told media that when he arrived on scene, the fire had spread to the roof of the plant and a 50 foot by 75 foot area was damaged.
All workers inside the building were able to get out safely and no injuries were reported, authorities said. Employees on site had to wait in the cafeteria and in front of the building while firefighters worked to get the blaze under control.
Clark said his department visits the Bekaert plant at least once a year to prepare for fires because there are several machines that could be damaged if they get wet.
