Pleas - Jan. 18, 2014

In the 21st Judicial District Circuit Court in Van Buren Jan. 8, Judge Gary R. Cottrell heard pleas and sentenced the following:

• Rita Lynn Childers, 35, of Van Buren pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to six years in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a four-year suspended prison sentence. She will complete counseling while in prison.

In the 21st Judicial District Circuit Court in Van Buren Jan. 9, Judge Mike Medlock heard pleas and sentenced the following:

• Luther Jimmy Miller, 29, of Mulberry pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was sentenced to four and one-half years in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a one-year suspended prison sentence.

• Horace Edward Pruitt, 66, of Alma pleaded guilty to simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and habitual offender and was sentenced to 18 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a 15-year suspended prison sentence. His driver’s license was suspended for six months.

In the 21st Judicial District Circuit Court in Van Buren Jan. 13, Judge Gary R. Cottrell heard pleas and sentenced the following:

• Jason Rex Davis, 26, of Alma pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine and was placed on five years supervised probation. He will pay a $1,000 fine, $170 court costs, $100 public defender fee and $125 drug task force fee. His driver’s license was suspended for six months.

• Jaime Garcia, 33, of Siloam Springs pleaded guilty to first-degree forgery and had a five-year prison sentence suspended on the condition he pay a $500 fine, $170 court costs and $250 fee for DNA sampling. Fines and costs will be satisfied by time served in the Crawford County Detention Center.

• Mark Dewayne Jackson, 27, of Diamond City, Ark., pleaded guilty to first-degree battery and was sentenced to eight years in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a 12-year suspended prison sentence. He will pay a $100 public defender fee and $170 court costs and have no contact with the victim. He was given credit for time served since Jan. 19, 2013.

• Shawn Dale Johnson, 31, of Fort Smith pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced to seven years in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a six-year suspended prison sentence. He was given credit for time served in the Sebastian County jail and his driver’s license was suspended for six months.

• Kenneth Daniel Nance, 31, of Van Buren pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine and was placed on five years probation. He will complete a drug and alcohol treatment program and a reading program and attempt to get his GED.

• Dylan Clayton Scott, 33, of Alma pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, criminal use of a prohibited weapon and felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a 10-year suspended prison sentence.

• Ashley Renee Starts, 37, of Van Buren pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a minor, violation of a protective order and driving while intoxicated and was placed on four years probation. She will pay an $800 fine, 320 court costs and $250 fee for DNA sampling.

• Steve Mark Thompson, 28, of Alma pleaded guilty to burglary, theft by receiving and felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 20 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a 12-year suspended prison sentence. The firearm was forfeited.

• Keana Renea Robins, 20, of Alma pleaded guilty to three counts of breaking or entering, three counts of theft of property, second-degree forgery and fraudulent use of a debit card and was placed on five years supervised probation. She will pay $685.84 restitution, $1,000 fine, $170 court costs and $250 fee for DNA sampling and complete a drug treatment program.

• Jolynn Nicole Peevy, 26, of Alma pleaded guilty to criminal use of a prohibited weapon and had a three-year prison sentence suspended on the condition she do 30 days of community service and pay a $1,500 fine, $170 court costs and $250 fee for DNA sampling.

• Catrina Nicole Mitchell, 28, of Dyer pleaded guilty to residential burglary and theft of property and had a 10-year prison sentence suspended on the condition she pay $2,065 restitution, $1,000 fine, $170 court costs and $250 fee for DNA sampling.

• Bradley Joe White Jr., 23, of Mountainburg pleaded guilty to felon in possession of a firearm and had a six-year prison sentence suspended on the condition he do 30 days of community service and pay a $1,500 fine and $170 court costs.

• Terry Lee Stephens, 38, of Van Buren pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and habitual offender and was sentenced to 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a 10-year suspended prison sentence.

• Katrina Leann Jones, 31, of Fort Smith pleaded guilty to possession of hydrocodone with purpose to deliver, possession of alprazolam with purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia and had a 10-year prison sentence suspended on the condition she pay a $2,500 fine and $170 court costs.

• Douglas Alan Anderson, 42, of Van Buren pleaded guilty to second-degree forgery and was sentenced to 120 days in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a five-year suspended prison sentence. He was given credit for time served.

• Jacob Daniel Sullivan, 21, of Fayetteville pleaded guilty to theft by receiving and was sentenced to three years in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a three-year suspended prison sentence on the condition he pay $52 restitution, $170 court costs and $100 public defender fee.

• Juliette Fern Smith, 64, of Rudy pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on a family member and had a three-year prison sentence suspended on the condition she pay a $2,000 fine, $170 court costs and $250 fee for DNA sampling.

In the 21st Judicial District Circuit Court in Van Buren Jan. 15, Judge Gary R. Cottrell heard pleas and sentenced the following:

• Andrew Drew Free, 27, of Van Buren pleaded guilty to theft of property and habitual offender and was sentenced to eight years in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a five-year suspended prison sentence. He was given credit for time served and the sentence will run concurrently with a parole violation from Sebastian County.
