Pleas - May 14 and 16, 2014

In the 21st Judicial District Circuit Court in Van Buren May 14, Judge Gary R. Cottrell heard pleas and sentenced the following:

• Cameron Cassidy Cherry, 25, of Van Buren pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and was sentenced to two years at a regional correctional facility to be followed by a 10-year suspended prison sentence. He will complete the long-term drug treatment program while in prison. His driver’s license was suspended for six months.

• William Richard From, 27, of Van Buren pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and was placed in the drug court program. He will be on three years probation, submit to DNA sampling and pay the $250 fee and $125 drug task force fee. A $3,500 fine, $170 court costs and $300 of a $600 drug court fee were suspended on the condition he completes the drug court program. His driver’s license was suspended for six months.

• Thomas Wesley Hurst, 48, of Van Buren pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and resisting arrest and was placed in the drug court program. He will be on three years probation, submit to DNA sampling and pay the $250 fee and $125 drug task force fee. A $3,500 fine, $170 court costs and $300 of a $600 drug court fee were suspended on the condition he completes the drug court program. His driver’s license was suspended for six months.

In the 21st Judicial District Circuit Court in Van Buren May 16, Judge Gary R. Cottrell heard pleas and sentenced the following:

• Earl Lewis Slusher, 27, of Sallisaw pleaded guilty to nonsupport and failure to appear and had a five-year prison sentence suspended on the condition he pay a $250 fine, $170 court costs, $250 fee for DNA sampling and child-support as previously ordered.

• Jason Edgar Knight, 35, of Alma pleaded guilty to two counts of breaking or entering, theft of property and theft by receiving and had a six-year prison sentence suspended on the condition he pay $525 restitution, $2,000 fine and $170 court costs.

• Collin Ray Holson, 19, of Chester pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery, aggravated residential burglary, two counts of theft of property and breaking or entering and was sentenced to 12 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction to be followed by a 20-year suspended prison sentence on the condition he pay $810 restitution and a $20 booking fee. He was given credit for time served in the detention center.

• Loard Edward Phillips Jr., 21, of Spiro pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear and had a five-year prison sentence suspended on the condition he pay a $500 fine, $170 court costs, $250 fee for DNA sampling and $125 drug task force fee. His driver’s license was suspended for six months.

• Mary Lorene Bright, 44, of Alma pleaded guilty to delivery of oxycodone, delivery of lisdexamfetamine and delivery of hydrocodone acetaminophen and was sentenced to 120 days at a regional correctional facility to be followed by a 10-year suspended prison sentence. She will complete the drug treatment program while in prison. Her driver’s license was suspended for six months.

• Maverick Jacob Merechka, 23, of Van Buren pleaded guilty to three counts of delivery of oxycodone and was placed on six years probation. He will pay $240 restitution, $1,500 fine, $170 court costs, $250 fee for DNA sampling and $125 drug task force fee.

• Paul Thomas McGill Jr., 27, of Little Rock pleaded guilty to first-degree terroristic threatening and had a six-year prison sentence suspended on the condition he pay a $250 fine and $170 court costs, have no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18 and no Internet access without supervision.
