Participants in a new running club at the Van Buren Boys and Girls Club will receive free entries into the second annual Life’s an Uphill Run.

The 5k run and one-mile fun run scheduled for Saturday, May 3, will be presented by Rhodes Chevrolet, according to Cindy Faldon, chief professional officer for the boys and girls club.

Faldon said the one-mile run/walk will be held on the trail which circles Lake Cap Bedell in the city park. The 5k, which is designed for serious runners, will utilize city streets in the hilly area of the city park.

This past week, local masseuse Stacy Dilley has been at the club, encouraging club members to consider healthy options with their lifestyles.

“I am excited to bring this to you,” Dilley told the youngsters. “I have wanted to do this for a long time.”

Current diamond sponsors of the Life’s an Uphill Run are Strategic Realty and Citizens Bank & Trust. Western Arkansas Title Services is a silver sponsor.

Registration and check-in will begin at 7 a.m.; the race will start at 8 at the club, 1403 City Park Road.

Advance registration is $20. Day-of-event registration is $25.

All participants will receive a T-shirt and goody bag, but must be registered by April 25 to guarantee shirt sizes, Faldon said.
