Teams are signing up at a record pace for the seventh annual Van Buren Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic.
Only 27 teams play in the Golf Classic scheduled for Monday, Sept. 15, at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Alma. The event will start at 11:30 a.m. with registration. Lunch will be at noon with the shotgun start to begin at 1 p.m.
Confirmed teams are Acme Brick, APAC Central - Arkhola Sand and Gravel Co., Arkansas Automatic Sprinkler, Arkansas Lighting, Arvest Bank, Basham Construction, Centennial Bank, Citizens Bank & Trust Co., Eddie Phillips, First Bank, Hubbs, Belcher and Co. CPAs, Impact Construction Solutions, Main Street Interiors, Progressive Business Sytems LLC, Shelter Insurance - Ted McEvoy Agency, State Rep. Gary Deffenbaugh, Swaim Office Products, TEC Staffing Services and United Federal Credit Union.
More than $60,000 will be up for grabs in four hole-in-one opportunities, according to David Young, who co-chairs the Golf Classic with Lyn Miller.
JMR/PFP Insurance will offer $10,000 for a hole-in-one, Randall Ford a 2014 Ford Fusion, Wheeler Power Sports a 4-wheeler RZR and Westark Yamaha a 2015 Yamaha Viking six-seat utility terrain vehicle.
Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative will be the tournament presenting sponsor. Cox Business will sponsor the lunch and Morton Dentistry, Turf-Pro USA and Froud Lawn and Landscaping have been confirmed as drink cart sponsors.
Gary’s Collision is the longest drive sponsor, Crawford Health and Rehabilitation Center the closest-to-the-pin sponsor and Frost Oil the putting contest sponsor.
Miller said sponsors are being sought for the driving range, mulligan and exclusive hole.
Hole sponsors and door prize also are needed.
The $300 entry per four-person team includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, lunch, goody bags and lots of door prizes at the event wrap-up. Proceeds will support the chamber’s education scholarship program and other chamber projects.
