Trucker pleads not guilty to drug possession

A Florida trucker accused of possessing cocaine pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Crawford County Circuit Court.

Mayker Mike Sanchez, 36, of Miami is charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sanchez was arrested Oct. 15 by an Arkansas Highway Police officer during a random safety inspection. During a pat down following a consent to search, the officer found a small vile containing cocaine residue.

Other pleas heard Wednesday by Judge Gary R. Cottrell were:

• Johnny Phousavath, 23, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and habitual offender. Phousavath was arrested Oct. 24 after a Van Buren police officer stop a vehicle for expired tags.

• James Alfred Bentley Jr., 35, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to failing to register as a sex offender and habitual offender. Bentley allegedly moved from a South Third Street residence without notifying authorities. Bentley also resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received June 22, 2012, for failing to register as a sex offender, based on the new arrest.

• Leonard Ray Smithson, 61, of Lavaca pleaded not guilty to felon in possession of a firearm. Smithson was arrested Oct. 18 following a traffic stop by an Arkansas State Police trooper.

• John David Anderson, 46, of Fort Smith pleaded not guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended or revoked and habitual offender. Anderson was arrested Oct. 18 after being stopped for speeding by a Van Buren police officer.

• Raymond Dale Cloption, 62, of Mansfield pleaded not guilty to theft of leased or rented property. Cloption is accused of not returning heavy equipment to Rentco, leaving an unpaid balance of $56,061.

• Michael James Henderson, 42, of Barling pleaded not guilty to failure to appear, breaking or entering, theft of property and habitual offender. Henderson is accused of taking property from a Pointer Trail construction site Aug. 10 and failing to appear for arraignment Aug. 21.

• Rickey Lewis Harris, 54, of Fort Smith pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at a Sept. 20 status hearing on charges of possession of hydrocodone and habitual offender.

• Crystal Lucinda Hendren, 29, of Fort Smith pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at a Sept. 19 petition to revoke hearing, alleging she has failed to pay fines and fees on a June 29, 2012, conviction for delivery of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hydrocodone with intent to deliver, alleging she has failed to pay fines and fees.

• Robert Granados, 29, of Fort Smith pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at a Sept. 11 petition to revoke hearing on an Oct. 6, 2005, conviction for overdraft, alleging he owes fines and fees.

• Thomas Dwayne Grace, 25, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Feb. 8 for theft of property, terroristic threatening, domestic battery, driving while license suspended, no proof of insurance, battery and interference with emergency communications, alleging he has failed to pay fines and fees.

• Justin Scott Aldridge, 34, of Alma resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Dec. 19, 2012, for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, alleging he has failed to do community service.

• Reggie Maurice Crayton, 26, of Fort Smith resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received April 13, 2012, for domestic battery and interference with emergency communications, alleging he has failed to pay fines, court costs and fees.

• Ronnie Bruce Evans, 48, of Muldrow resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received May 11, 2012, for engaging a child in sexually explicit conduct for visual or print media, alleging he failed to complete counseling.

• Lance Robert Stewart, 25, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Feb. 14, 2011, for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, alleging he failed to do community service.

• Richard Thomas Spitler, 33, of Springdale resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received March 7, 2009, for breaking or entering and theft of property, alleging he was arrested in Washington County for rape and sodomy.

• Richard Willis Brasfield, 57, of Fort Smith resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received July 26, 2010, for overdraft, alleging he has failed to pay restitution, fines and court costs.

• Horace Pruitt, 66, of Alma resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Feb. 14, 2006, for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana and Oct. 23, 2006, for assault and felon in possession of a firearm, alleging he was arrested Sept. 19 for manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, felon in possession of a firearm and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

• Rhonda Kay Beals, 48, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence she received Nov. 19, 2003, for second-degree forgery, alleging she has failed to pay restitution, DNA fee and other fees.

• Elencia Joan Johnson, 45, of Rudy resisted a petition to revoke a sentence she received Sept. 5, 1995, for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, alleging she has failed to pay fines and fees.
