Food and non-food vendors are being sought for the 2014 Taste of Crawford County to be held Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the Commons Area of Van Buren High School.

Sessions will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. for the fundraiser for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Crawford County.

Cathi Dixon, Taste chairman, said potential vendors will receive information by mail.

For more information, call Dixon at (479) 806-4876 or the CASA office at (479) 474-8502.

Taste of Crawford County also features a silent auction as well as games with prizes.

Tickets for Taste of Crawford are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for the safety and well-being of children who have been removed from their homes due to parental abuse and neglect.

Crawford County currently has 100 children in foster care. CASA of Crawford County serves 66 of these children. That leaves 34 children in foster care without a voice, Dixon noted.

CASA volunteers watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they do not get lost in the legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives.

CASA volunteers have helped more than two million children find safe, permanent homes.
