Arta Lou Janway, 80, of Broken Arrow, Okla., died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Uniontown, Ark., the daughter of Ural Sanford “Pa Peace” and Marjorie Madeline (Howell) Peace. The former Miss Arta Lou Peace was a 1951 graduate of McAlester High School in McAlester, Okla. She married Eugene “Gene” Janway on Aug. 2, 1952, in Bugtussle, Okla. They moved to Broken Arrow in 1967. She was “Grandma Lou” and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and working on crafts. She was a member of Northside Christian Church. She is survived by her husband, Gene Janway of Broken Arrow; two daughters, Connie and husband Larry Covington of Broken Arrow and Margie Jeter of Copan, Okla.; a son, Tim Janway, Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Traci, Bryan and wife Ashley, Kristin and husband Kyle, Cami, Brady, Hunter, Keaton and Marley; and a brother, Bernard and wife Judy Peace of Tulsa.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Beauford Peace; her parents and stepmother, Genew Peace.
Funeral was Oct. 7 at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow. Burial will be at Uniontown Cemetery under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.
