Brian Douglas Fields, 69, of Van Buren died May 2, 2014, in Fort Smith. He was born April 22, 1945, in Fort Smith and was a retired colonel from the 188th Fighter Wing, Arkansas Air National Guard, retiring as vice commander after more than 30 years of service. He spent his career flying fighter jets such as the F-100, F-4 and the F-16. He attended City Christian Fellowship Church and was active with United Blood Services and Habitat for Humanity in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; a daughter, Angella Baker of Fort Smith; two sons, Marc Fields of Fort Smith and Heath Conley of Van Buren; a sister, Jadean Keller of Forney, Texas; abrother, Michael Fields of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was May 5 at City Christian Fellowship Church with burial at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Dwayne Bell, Doug Lamb, Johnny Johnson, Charles Angel, Bobby Burns and Justin Blasingame.
