Clyde Davis died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, Ill. He was born Aug. 29, 1923, in Alma. Clyde worked as superintendent of the Des Plaines, Ill., water treatment plant for 30 years. He was married to Nurine Edna Holman on April 9, 1945. They met in California while working at the shipyards during the war. He was a good Christian man and member of the Free Masons.
Clyde was one of seven boys born to May and Leonard Davis from Dyer. He is predeceased by his brothers Silas Davis, Dudgeon Davis, Lloyd Davis, John Paul Davis and Delmar Davis. Surviving brother Layton Davis and sister-in-law Bonnie live in Van Buren.
He also is survived by his wife, Nurine Davis, age 93; only child, Linda Jean Busch (Davis) and son-in-law James V. Busch of Winnebago, Ill. Living relatives also include loving grandchildren, James W. Busch and wife Jenny Busch, John Busch and wife Julie Busch and Diane (Busch) Engel and husband Randy Engel. Great-grandchildren include Jackson Engel and Brock Engel of Illinois and Will Busch, Olivia Busch, Lisa Busch, Lynnette Busch and Ryley Busch of Wisconsin.
Clyde was well-liked by all who met him and is remembered as a kind, faithful, sincere, and devoted Christian family man.
Memorial service will be March 1 at Toni’s of Winnebago Event Center, Winnebago, Ill. A service will be held starting at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon.
No flowers please. Any tributes to Clyde may be made to a charity of your choice in his name.
