Clyde Leon Maxwell, 91, of Van Buren passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, at a local nursing home. Clyde was born Jan. 24, 1923, to the late John W. and Cordellia (Lamb) Maxwell north of Rudy in Crawford County. Clyde moved to California as a young man and worked in the auto industry before pursuing a music career in southern California, Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe, Nev. After retiring Clyde moved back to Van Buren to be near family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, David, John, Howard, Austin and Lon Maxwell; two sisters, Ruth and Evelyn Maxwell; two nephews, Gerald and Paul Maxwell; and one niece, Darlene (Maxwell) Benson.
He is survived by five nieces, Lois, Ruth, Shirley, Floy and Connie (Maxwell); one nephew, Myron Maxwell and wife, Sue of Rudy; several great-nieces and nephews; several great-great-nieces and nephews; two special friends, Mrs. June Lott and Mr. Merle Belcher; and a special great-great-niece, Morgan who loved his stories and music.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Hill, Eli Maxwell, Cody Collingsworth, Joey Maxwell, Brian Mongold and Tony Maxwell.
