Dorothy House

Mrs. Dorothy Mae House, 86, departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, in Fort Smith. She was born July 27, 1927, to Clyde and Gertrude Atwell Dixon, and was the widow of John Dee Forest “Red” House. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. today at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ with interment to follow at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.

She is survived by six daughters, Deborah Jarboe and husband Bill of Fort Smith, Donna House of Van Buren, Dottie Ashworth and husband Richard of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Erke and husband Jim of Van Buren, Paula Silzer and husband Wade of Grand Lake, Okla., and Vicky Bynum and husband Tim of Paris; two sons, Johnny House and wife Joy of Van Buren and Jimmy House and wife Connie of Mountainburg; four sisters, Freda Dunn of Fort Smith, Oralee Taylor of Pocola, Janet Goforth of Sedalia, Mo., and Joyce Branham and husband Charles of Fort Smith; two sisters-in-law, Faye Russell of Van Buren and Pauline Goodwin of Norfolk, Va.; 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren with two more expected this spring; and six great-great-grandchildren with one more expected this spring. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
