Kathryn Maxey

Kathryn Patterson Maxey, 85, of Van Buren passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at her home. She was born Aug. 23, 1928, in San Benito, Texas. She was a graduate of University of Arkansas - Fayetteville with a bachelor’s degree. She was a dedicated teacher in the Van Buren School District for more than 20 years. She attended First Baptist Church Van Buren and was a member of Van Buren Literary Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Earl Jackson Maxey; her son, Earl Donald Maxey; one grandson, Eric Lyle Maxey; and two brothers, John and Charles Patterson.

She is survived by her son, David Charles Maxey of Van Buren; her daughter, Shana Kay Maxey of Rogers; two grandchildren, Tyler Maxey and Emily Maxey; one great-granddaughter, Erica Maxey; one sister, Juanita Runyon, and one sister-in-law, Shirlene Patterson, both of Texas; and beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Salem Cemetery in Cedarville under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Haskell Baker, Ross Green, Jimmy Griffin, Richard Hayden, Steve Marion, James Patterson, Gary Runyon, Ford Sosebee and Gonzo Hernandez.

The family will visit with relatives and friends 5-7 p.m. Friday at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren.
