Kenneth J. Mitchell, 82, of Van Buren entered into rest on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, in Van Buren. He was born Dec. 13, 1931, in Newport, Ark., to the late Rudolph and Launa Mitchell. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He loved to fish and loved gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marie; one son, Kenneth Wayne Mitchell of Van Buren; one daughter, Beverly Mitchell of Van Buren; two brothers, Jimmy Mitchell of Ravenben, Ark., and Marion Mitchell of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; two sisters, Lois Worcester of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Eulala Brock of Tuckerman, Ark.; one grandson, Jamie Mitchell; and his special buddy “Shack.”
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with interment at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
Family will receive friends from 5:30 till 7 p.m. on Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Larry Don Blevins, John Riddle, Danny Long, Jamie Mitchell, Harvey Pense and Scotty Dunham.
