Lester Head

Lester Carl Head, 89, of Van Buren died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Fort Smith to the late Dow and Anna Head. He was a clerk for the Frisco Railroad and a member of The Salvation Army Church in Fort Smith. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia; and a son, Robert (Bob) Head.

He is survived by a daughter, Paula Hayes of Van Buren; a sister, Bonnie King of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Robin Clark and Patricia Charlton; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Russell III, Willis Clark and Paul Bower.

The family will visit with friends 6-8 p.m. today at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
