Mildred Lucille Manuel, 94, of Van Buren died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at a local hospital. She graduated high school at St. Scholastica in Fort Smith and spent 29 years as a clerk at Palace Drug Store and several years volunteering at Miss Laura’s Visitor Center, Crawford Memorial Hospital and the Van Buren Public Library. In 2010, she was elected “Ms. Crawford Health and Rehab” and went on to the district pageant where she was first runner-up. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Van Buren where she used to sing in the choir, taught Sunday school and was a member of the women’s circle group. She was the widow of Dow Manuel.
She is survived by two daughters, Leona Reed and Lysbeth Manuel, both of Van Buren; three sons Dow and Roger Manuel, both of Van Buren, and Marc Manuel of Fort Smith; a sister, Georgia Hanneken of Wabash, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church of Van Buren. Cremation will be under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
Visition will be from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church.
