Nancy Gramlich

Nancy Ruth Gramlich, 73, of Van Buren passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at her home in Kibler. She lived a life of service as a wife and mother, raising 10 children, and then taking in her husband’s elderly cousin for 15 years. She provided a strong foundation of faith for her children and was a source of quiet strength for friends and neighbors. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Boniface in Fort Smith.

She was born Oct. 30, 1939, in Rye Hill to the late Charles Braden and Anna (Green) Braden and was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Braden, and a sister, Shirley White, both of Fort Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Gramlich Jr. of Kibler; and their children, Lee Ann ( Otta) Cluck of Van Buren, John (Imee) Gramlich III of Kibler, Denise (Kris) Shewmake of Paron, Ark., Mark (Becky) Gramlich of Kibler, Brad Gramlich of Van Buren, Stacy (Richard) Mason of Alma, Larry (Kim) Gramlich of Alma, Joe Gramlich of Fairland, Okla., Amber (Dak) Rowe of Van Buren and Luke Gramlich of Van Buren.

She is survived by one brother Chuck (Audrey) Braden of Fairborn, Ohio. She also is survived by 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A private family mass was celebrated by Father Greg Luyet at St. Boniface Catholic Church on Aug. 20 followed by a rosary and burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Her sons served as pallbearers.

Crystal Buswell

Crystal Gale Buswell, 31, of Greenwood died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, in Fort Smith. She was born Jan. 4, 1982, in Van Buren. She was a high school teacher in Alma and Ozark, having received her master’s degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

She is survived by her husband, Nick Buswell of the home; a son, Porter Buswell of the home; her father and stepmother, James and Marsha Watson of Van Buren; mother and stepfather, Corina and Doug Mattingly of Sallisaw; and a sister, Jamie Michelle McDonnor of Chester.

The family will visit with friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.

Cremation will take place following the visitation under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Raina Glidewell

Raina Presley Glidewell, infant daughter of Joshua and Shandy Glidewell of Van Buren, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, in Van Buren. She was born June 25, 2013, in Fort Smith.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Aaron and Luke Glidewell, both of the home; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Debbie Glidewell of Van Buren; maternal grandparents, Sarah and Benny Baldwin of Van Buren and Glen and Robin Gillett of Booneville; and maternal great-grandparents, Betty and Robert Goss, Louis Goss and Betty and Jim Schleif, all of Van Buren.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Elton andStacy Montgomery, Harold Dean and Trey Napier

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Dickie Garrett Sr.

Dickie Ray Garrett Sr., 61, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at his home. He was a retired self-employed mechanic and member of Van Buren Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Sally Murphy of Alma and Jessica Logsdon of Van Buren; a son, Bubba Garrett Jr. of Cedarville; an adopted daughter, Pam Berg of Paris; mother, Anna Killion of Van Buren; a sister, Deborah Garrett of Van Buren; a brother, Danny Garrett of Van Buren; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be James Rowe, Dalton Garrett, Billy Rhynes, Matt Moses, Daniel Armer and Derek Lowrey.

Harold Long

Harold “Butch” Long, 75, of Rudy died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, in Fort Smith. He was born March 2, 1938, in Coyle, Okla. He was a Baptist and a Marine veteran.

Graveside service was Aug. 30 at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; a daughter, Wendy Long; a son, Marcus Long; three stepdaughters, Dawna Freeman of Tulsa, Martha Blair of Virgie, Ky., and Pamela McKinley of Gastonia, N.C.; a stepson, Charles Sutton of Huntington, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Ed Pryor

Ed Pryor, 64, of Alma died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at his home. He was a retired lead man for Rheem Manufacturing Co. in Fort Smith.

No service is scheduled. Cremation was under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; a daughter, Michelle Pereira of Booneville; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Gene Bock

Gene Vincent Bock, 88, of Gainesville, Texas, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at a local hospital. He was a self-employed mechanic.

He is survived by three daughters, Bertha Lynch of Centrahoma, Okla., Judy Richardson of Tulsa and Violet Ellis of Wichita; two sons, Vince Bock of Van Buren and Lee Bock of Clarksville, Ga.; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Cremation was under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. No service is scheduled.

Craig Duck

Craig Robert Duck, 61, of Mulberry died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at his home. He was born Jan. 6, 1952, in Medina, Ohio. He was a retired truck driver for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department.

Family-held memorial service will be 11 a.m. today at Ozark View Chapel in Mulberry under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Alma. The body will be cremated.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; a daughter, Stacie McLeroy of Rogers; two sons, Shawn Duck of Ohio and Joseph Duck of Mulberry; two sisters, Jody Steyer and Kelly Kimble, both of Ohio; and numerous grandchildren.

Margarette Nichols

Margarette Nichols, 67, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, in Fort Smith. She was born July 22, 1946.

Cremation will be under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas.

Dr. Dana Garner

Dr. Dana R. Garner, 62, of Muldrow died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at a local hospital. She was born June 4, 1951, in Taylorville, Ill., to the late Claude and Mary Harrold. She was an assistant professor of early childhood education at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Drew Edward Monts; two brothers, Jack and Jim Harrold; and a sister-in-law, Lois Harrold.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn Garner of the home; two daughters, Desiree and Diedre Monts of Van Buren; a son, Derek Monts of Van Buren; and a brother, Bruce Harrold of Taylorville, Ill.

Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. Interment service, burial of ashes, will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, Ill.

The family will visit with friends following the service.
