Robert J. “Bob” Sharnas

(Retired) U.S. Army Master Sergeant Robert J. “Bob” Sharnas, 71, of Van Buren passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1942, in Wicliffe, Ohio, to the late John and Florence Sharnas. He was a highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and a retired co-owner of Sharnas Bail Bonding in Waldron. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Martina Sharnas; and two sons, Charles and Bobby Sharnas.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Edwina Sharnas of the home; a daughter, Dana Hawkins of West Memphis, Ark.; a son, Stanley Helm of Booneville; a sister, Rosemary Morris of Ohio; and two grandchildren, Heather and Billy Hawkins of West Memphis.

Funeral service with military honors will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel with cremation to follow under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

The family will visit with friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday 2013 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
