Paul and Sharon Hays of Van Buren will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 14 with a drop-in reception from 2 to 4 p.m. in the dining hall at Van Buren First Assembly of God. They were married June 13, 1964, at First Freewill Baptist Church of Fort Smith by the late Rev. Rupert Pixley. Mrs. Hays is the former Sharon Carney of Fort Smith and is retired from Wal-Mart Distribution and from home childcare. Mr. Hays is a native of Van Buren and is the retired owner of Paul's Men Shop. They have two children, Alisa Hays of Van Buren and Clair Mays of Arkadelphia, and three grandchildren. The couple request no gifts.

John and Donna Henson of Mulberry will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 21. An open house will be held in their honor at Alma First Freewill Baptist Church, 208 Smith Road, from 2 to 4 p.m. They were married June 23, 1964, at First Assembly of God in Van Buren. Mrs. Henson is from Alameda, Calif., and a homemaker. Mr. Henson is a native of Waverly, Ill., and retired from Gerber Product after 22 years. They have two children, the late Theresa Freeman and Tony Henson of Sallisaw, Okla., and five grandchildren.

<p>Miss Arkansas River’s Outstanding Teen Savannah Selman of Van Buren (left) will compete for the title of Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen this week in Russellville. Preliminary portion will be held on Thursday and Friday nights, and the finals will be held on Saturday. Miss Arkansas River Savannah Valentine of Alma will be competing in the Miss Arkansas Pageant on June 18-21 in Hot Springs. They will compete in personal interview, lifestyle and fitness, talent, evening gown, and onstage question. Several scholarships and awards will be presented to the winners during the final night.</p>
