The new department, which will replace the existing over-crowded VBPD on South 11th Street, is being financed by a one-cent sales tax approved by Van Buren voters in 2012. The city’s fourth fire station will be dedicated soon and work is scheduled to begin soon on a new senior inn, both funded by the tax.</p>
