College: Ray heads to Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE — Van Buren High School baseball standout Quinton Ray will continue his baseball career at the University of the Ozarks, it was announced by Ozarks’ head baseball coach Jimmy Clark.

Ray, a shortstop and second baseman, hit .325 with 16 RBI his senior season. He also recorded 33 hits and scored 22 runs. A three-year starter, Ray helped Van Buren to the state tournament his junior and senior season.

“We are excited to have Quinton join our program,” said Clark. “He is a solid player with good offensive and defensive skills. He is a perfect fit for our school and program.”

He is the son of Rod and Twila Ray. He will pursue a degree in accounting.

The Eagles compete in the 12-team American Southwest Conference, one of the largest and premier intercollegiate athletic conferences in NCAA Division III.
