FAYETTEVILLE — Former Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson has signed his rookie contract with the Oakland Raiders.
Oakland general manager Reggie McKenzie announced Wilson’s signing Tuesday, although the terms of the deal were not available. Wilson was the Oakland’s fourth-round draft pick in last April’s draft.
The Greenwood native will compete with former LSU quarterback Matt Flynn and former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor for the starting job when Oakland’s training camp opens later this week. Flynn, who signed with the Raiders in the offseason after being the backup to rookie Russell Wilson in Seattle last season, is projected to be Oakland’s starter when the season begins in September.
Wilson played in 37 games with 24 starts during his Arkansas career. He set school records in passing yards (7,765) and completions (593).
