Cedarville split a doubleheader with Elkins on Monday by winning the first game 7-0 and dropped a 2-1 decision, in the nightcap.
Korbin Polly earned the win in first game with 13 strikeouts with two walks and a pair of hits.
Corey Fincher had a RBI double to begin the scoring in the first inning as Cedarville took a 4-0 lead. Garrett Parson added a two-run double and later scored on a passed ball.
In the second inning, Logan Wheeler started off with an RBI on his fielder’s choice and Fincher added another RBI double.
Polly had a double in the fifth and was brought home with Travis Shelly’s RBI single.
In the nightcap, Fincher absorbed the loss with four hits, 10 strikeouts and one earned run.
Elkins scored their runs in the first to lead 2-0.
Shelly had a RBI double in the fourth inning for Cedarville’s only run.
The Pirates are to play in the district tournament on Saturday.
