Alma right-hander Brett Farris committed to Cloud County Community College on Wednesday.
“I’ve worked really hard the past few years,” Farris said. “I’ve worked hard to become a better person and be a good player.”
Farris compiled a 3-5 record with a 4.28 earned run average in 2013. He struck out 41 hitters in 50 2/3 innings of work.
He was 2-1 with a 3.06 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 18 1/3 innings of work in 2012.
“I’m hoping he steps up and be the leader on the mound,” Alma coach Kevin Edwards said. “The last couple of years we’ve had senior pitchers step up and be that bell cow — Brady (Bradley) a couple of years ago and Colin (Ogilvie) last year. Hopefully he’ll be the one that steps up this year and gets it done.”
CCCC is located in Concordia, Kan. and competes in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. Last season, Cloud County finished 22-29.
