The Lady Dragons grabbed a conference win on Friday, while the Cedarville Pirates picked up a non-conference win on Saturday.

Alma’s junior high squad came away with some keys wins in Fort Smitn on Monday night.

Alma 36, Chaffin 26 (Boys)

Alma fought off a second-quarter surge by Chaffin to beat the Cougars.

The Airedales led 12-8 after the first quarter, but Chaffin cut the lead by one by halftime, 19-18. Alma held Chaffin to just eight points in the second half.

Nathan Corder led with 14 points and had seven rebounds after he scored 11 in the first half. Isaac Posey and Noah Dotson had eight and seven points respectively. Eli Howells pulled down seven rebounds.

Alma improved to 7-4 in the River Valley Conference and is tied with Darby for third.

Kimmons (10-0) leads the conference and Van Buren (9-2) is second. Alma has Van Buren, Shiloh (1-8) and Greenwood (0-11) remaining.

Alma 49, Chaffin 40 (Girls)

Madi Tobler scored 15 points and Kailey Fagan added 11 in the win.

The Airedalettes led 21-14 at halftime and was up 35-29 before the start of the fourth quarter.

Bailey Jones added eight points.

Alma (10-1), Van Buren (9-2) and Kimmons (8-2) have earned a berth to the regional tournament.

Mountainburg

The Lady Dragons jumped to a 20-5 lead in the first quarter and never looked back to beat Decatur 61-21.

Auburn Peters was shy of a quadruple-double as she and Tara Webb both finished with 17 points each. Peters also had eight rebounds, seven steals and six assists.

Kaylyn Moore added 16 points.

Mountainburg led 34-9 at halftime and was up 55-16 prior to the start of the fourth quarter.

Lonnie Campbell scored 22 points and Trey Allen tossed in 13 in Friday’s 56-46 loss to Decaur.

Mountainburg travels to Union Christian on Tuesday and hosts Hartford on Thursday.

Cedarville

Garrett Parson was 12 of 16 from the free-throw line and finished with 30 points as the Pirates won 70-55 at home against Westville (Okla.) on Saturday evening.

Corey Fincher had 15 points and Sean Simkins tossed in 10 for Cedarville, while Tyler Myers added nine.

The Pirates led 19-9 after the first quarter and was up 35-21 by halftime. Parson scored 12 of his game-high total during the third quarter.

Three Lady Pirates scored 15 or more points in Saturday’s 64-44 win.

Shanda Brown led with 18 points and Bailie Murphy chipped in 17. Allie Arnold added 15.

Mulberry

Brittany Edwards and Logan Archer combined for 31 points in Friday’s 51-47 win at Wonderview.

Edwards led with 16 points and Archer added 15.

The Lady YellowJackets (22-5) hosted Kingston in a make-up game on Tuesday and will host Saint Paul on Friday.
