Prep Basketball: Mountainburg, Mulberry take wins

Mountainburg’s Trey Allen is fouled as he goes up for the basket during Monday’s 2A-4 District tournament. The Dragons defeated Hartford 60-47 to advance to the second round.

Mountainburg defeated Hartford, 60-47, in the first round of the 2A-4 District tournament.

Lonnie Campbell had a double-double and was an assist away from acquiring a triple-double. Campbell had 18 points and 20 rebounds with nine assists.

Zack Wolfgram had 15 points. Willis Vaught tossed in eight while Trey Allen and Eli Pippin both added seven points.

The Dragons faced Union Christian on Tuesday for the second round.

Mulberry

Both Mulberry squads won contests on Friday as the team celebrated senior night.

The Lady YellowJackets defeated St. Paul 53-6 and the men’s team won 61-25.

Sam Cagle led with 12 while Destiny Freeman had 10 points. Both Logan Archer and Brittany Edwards added seven points each. Dillon Jones and Wyatt Reeves had 15 points each in the men’s contest. Keenan Reeves and Dalton Smith both had 11 points each.
