Prep Football: Alma wins late; Pointers fall to Heritage

The 5A West Conference showdown will commence next week when Alma hosts Shiloh Christian at Airedale Stadium.

The Airedales moved to earn a share of the league title after defeating Greenbrier Friday night 31-21.

Alma (7-2, 6-0) will face Shiloh (6-2-1, 5-1) in what will be the Airedales first league title since 2004.

Alex Burris scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to lift the airedales to a 31-21 road win.

Alma trailed 14-10 at the half against Greenbrier (3-6, 2-4), but Alex Beneux scored a two-yard run to give Alma a 17-14 lead in the third quarter.

Both of Burris’ scoring runs in the fourth quarter were from a yard out, and both were on third downs.

Van Buren dropped its sixth 7A West Conference game this season in the 35-0 loss to Heritage.

The Pointers (1-8, 0-6) end the 2013 season hosting Siloam Springs (1-7-1, 0-6) at Blakemore Field.
