Prep Softball: Late rally lifts Alma past Morrilton

K’la Criswell reached home on a wild pitch and sealed Alma’s rally to help complete the double-header sweep on Thursday at home.

Criswell drove in a run in the 10th and took third after a double by Brooke Hoffsommer (2 for 5). Three pitches later, Criswell (2 for 5) took home and ended the game with just one out 9-8.

Abbey Ostrander helped Alma with a two-out, three-run triple in the bottom of the ninth to give the Airedalettes one more chance.

The Airedalettes trailed 3-1 going into the bottom of the seventh with two outs. Lead-off hitter Shaylee Sevenstar (2 for 4) and Charley Wilbourn (3 for 5) each had RBI doubles to tie up the game 3-3 at the end of the regular innings.

Morrilton scored at the top of the eighth, and Alma responded with Alexys Criswell’s RBI single to tie the game again.

The Lady Devil Dogs scored three runs off of three hits, two of which came with a pair of outs on the board.

Alma needed a two-out rally of their own in the bottom of the ninth. Ostrander rapped out her three-run triple to tie the game and send it to the 10th.

Morrilton scored a run at the top of the 10th, but it was a pair of runs to give Alma the win.

Alma had 12 hits and stranded 10 batters on base.

Reagan Nichols was able to keep the Airedalettes off-balance with 11 strikeouts.

Olivia Vinson grabbed the win with 10 innings of work with just five earned runs and seven strikeouts.

The Airedalettes pounded out another 12 hits and limited the Lady Devil Dogs to just two and grabbed the win in five innings.

Vinson pitched for just five frames to get the win with six strikeouts.

Alma’s first three batters (Sevenstar, Wilbourn, Ostrander) had two hits each, and Hoffsommer and Alora Perry added two hits each.

Sevenstar had a two-run double in the fifth.
