Prep Track: Alma JH sweeps both divisions at meet

Alma won both the boys and girls River Valley Conference titles Tuesday at the track meet held at Fort Smith.

Both teams along with other River Valley schools will compete Monday at the 7A West meet against the Northwest Arkansas schools.

The Airedalettes scored 165 points, beating Chaffin by 65 and the Lady Pointers took third (96).

The Airedales had 127 points followed by Chaffin (109), Ramsey (106) and Greenwood (84). The Pointers placed fifth (73).

The Airedalettes claimed the top three spots in the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump. Alma went on to place four athletes in three other events.

Abbye Ostrander nabbed first three events of her own, including the 100-meter hurdles (16.47 seconds), the high jump (5 feet, 0 inches), and the long jump (15-6.25). Ostrander was also second in the triple jump (31-9.25) and eighth in the 100 (14.08).

Martie Shockley and Scout Simpson were second and third respectively and Taylar Lee was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles.

Alma also had four runners place in the 300 hurdles. Shockley was second and Simpson took fifth followed by Abby Ross in sixth and Lee was eighth.

Alma won the 1,600-meter relay with Sierra Bailey, Alyssa Hoyle, Allie Freeman and Shockley in 4:36.13.

Hoyle was also second in the long jump and Bailey was third.

Lady Pointer Kayleigh Evans won the 300-meter hurdles (53.28) and was eighth in the 100 hurdles (19.03).

Van Buren’s Caleb Christiansen won the 100-meter dash (11.92), finished third in the high jump (5-6) and fourth in the long jump (18-3.5).

Alma clinched first in the boys’ division and had just two first-place winners. Drake Pendergraft finished first in the 200 (25.11) and was seventh in the 100 (12.27). Chris Belt won the pole vault for the Airedales.

Van Buren

Katie Barnwell took second in the 1,600 (6:18.28) and seventh in the 800 (2:52.6).

Chole Auldridge grabbed second in the 100-meter dash (13.29) and in the 200 (28.19), and was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.72).

Sydney Grizzle nabbed third in the shot put (36-5) and in the discus (78-8).

Daisey Connor clinched fourth 1,600, and fifth in the 800 (2:52.09).

In the long jump, Irasema Sandoval was fifth (15-2.5) and Ashley Beaver (14-8) placed seventh.

Leigha Wilkinson finished sixth in the 400 (1:10.1). Julia Clark took seventh in the 1,600 (6:27.36).

Sydney Woith placed eighth in the discus (69-10).

In the relay events, Van Buren took third in the 1,600 (4:43.56) and in the 3,200 (11;34.93), and fifth in the 400 (56.09).

Alma

Bailey was second in the 400 (1:06.29), while Allie Freeman was third (1:07.13).

Katie England finished second in the 800 (2:49.43). Etana Reinschmiedt was also second in the pole vault (6-6).

Hoyle grabbed third in the 200 (28.19), fifth in the triple jump (30-0), and tied for sixth in the high jump (4-6). Kennedy Stockburger was also tied for sixth in the high jump.

Reanna Smith grabbed fourth in the triple jump (30-4.25).

Katelyn Kuykendall clinched fifth in the high jump (4-8).

Heather Padilla took sixth in the 1,600 (6:24.47).

Grace Murphy placed seventh in the shot put (32-6).

Maddie Satterfield was eighth in the 800 (2:53.45).

In the relay events, Alma was fourth in the 400 (55.64) and fifth in the 3,200 (12:22.43).

Boy’s

Van Buren

Justic Cobb finished third in the triple jump (35-11).

Remington Malloy took fourth in the 1,600 (5:15.3).

In the 400, Brycen St. Mary was fifth (57.44) and Genner Arce grabbed eighth (57.82).

Brandon Petty placed fifth in the pole vault (8-6).

Dawson Love and Trevor Lincks placed in the 110-meter hurdles as Love took fifth (19.11) and Lincks was sixth (19.13).

In the shot put, Austin Pester clinched sixth (41-8) and Blade Batey grabbed eighth (40-11).

Jayden Mendez grabbed eighth in the discus (115-5).

In the relay events, Van Buren clinched fourth in the 400 (48.31), fifth in the 1,600 (4:14.09), and sixth in the 3,200 (10:24.96).

Alma

Aiden Walker clinched second in the 110-meter hurdles (18.14) and was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (46.51). Cooper McGhee seized third in the 110 hurdles (18.49) and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (46.51).

Eli Howells seized second in the triple jump (37-9).

Hunter Canfield was third in the long jump (18-6).

Alma had three throwers place in the shot put as Shane Rye, Gavyn Cunningham and David Mullins took third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Isaac Posey placed fourth in the high jump (5-4).

In the pole vault, Kyle Sentell and Mark Brumley were third and fourth respectively.

Isaac Koch placed fifth in the discus (122-8).

Christian Stahler was sixth in the triple jump (34-7).

Conner Huff nabbed sixth in the 800 (2:29.48) while Parker Edwards finished eighth (2:29.6). Edwards was also eighth in the triple jump (33-1).

Donovan King took seventh in the 200 (25.79). Caleb Cheetham was seventh in the 400 (57.58).

In the relay events Alma was second in the 400- (47.23) and the 3,200-meter relays, and third in the 1,600 (4:12.86).
