Trevor Witt Hughes is secured into the car for intermission run with Remington Watson Saturday at Crawford County Speedway. Bobby Wofford won the ridealong, but gave up his prize to Hughes, who has cerebral palsy and has worn braces on his legs for four years. Hughes just had the braces removed six months ago.
Crawford County Speedway will host its final Powder Puff race of the season on Saturday at the conclusion of the regular feature races.
Two drivers won their first race of the season as Sambo Parmenter won the Street Stock and Matt Hobbs took first in the Front Wheel Drive.
Parmenter earned his first Street Stock win in 13 starts on Saturday at CCS.
Parmenter finished ahead of Matt Rush, followed by point leader Chris Perkins of Rudy, Alma’s Zane Hunter and Shelby Ellison of Van Buren.
Last week’s winner, Jalen Brewton, finished seventh.
Hobbs has raced 19 times this season and won the Front Wheel Drive for the first time. Daniel Altes had his highest finish of the season as he took second followed by last week’s winner Cody Smith.
Randy Payne seized fourth as point leader Josh Jones placed fifth.
Smith had finished either first or second in 13 consecutive races and in 17 races overall this season.
Anthony Reeves picked up his second consecutive win and his 11th overall in the E Modified feature race.
Dalton McKenzie, who has eight wins and 11 runner-up finishes, was second and Shawn Pinkerton nabbed third. Lee Whitworth and Adam Hardin rounded out the Top 5.
Ryan Taylor earned his second win in five starts in the A Modified feature race.
Jason Foster, who hasn’t missed a race this season was second after back-to-back third-place finishes. Last week’s winner, Victor Pinkerton, grabbed third while Mike Dunigan clinched fourth. Robby Hines, who won back on Aug. 17, took fifth.
Jamison English won his first back-to-back Grand National feature since he won two starting on June 22. English has took first in five of his 11 races this season.
Mike McMahon was runner up in as many weeks while Danny Southerland reemerged to take third. Johnny Mitchell seized fourth while Martin Dunigan placed fifth in his 2013 Grand National debut.
Chris Tuck has been absent from the Mini Stock race, but with his return he didn’t miss a beat as he won the feature race. Tuck has won five times this season, and last raced on July 27 when he also finished first.
Rusty Lemonier picked up his second consecutive runner-up finish and Matt Reynolds grabbed third. Edward Boyster finished fourth while Stan Lewis seized fifth.
