Track: Local athletes finish in Top 20 at 2-day meet

Cedarville’s Abraham Hernandez and Kendall Pittman placed in the Top 20 at the Decathlon held on May 21-22 at Cabot, while Alma’s Rachel Ray finished 20th in the Heptathlon.

Hernandez finished with 4,858 points to finish 17th and Pittman had 4,823 for 20th place.

Heritage’s Brandon Shaw won overall.

Hernandez placed fifth in the shot put (39 feet, 8.5 inches) as his highest finish during the two-day event. Hernandez had a Top 15 finish in the discus (11th, 95-.5) and the triple jump (13th, 39-5.25).

Pittman was seventh in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.29 seconds), and was 11th in the 100-meter dash (11.6).

Ray finished with 3,553 points. Her highest finish was in the 100-meter low hurdles dash (15.93) as she finished eighth.

Sophomore Allie Arnold was 47th. Arnold’s paced 33rd in the 100 hurdles (18.14) and 34th in the 200 (28.15).

Sophomore Morgan Williams placed 63rd and was 20th in the shot put (27-0.75).
